"Fjalla, nicknamed ‘Thunder Thieves’ by the mountain folk, earned their title for their unusual method of hunting. Fjalla spend most of their time hibernating in communal dens until awakened by the faint static charge which accompanies developing lighting storms. Utilizing the specialized spine upon their backs, Fjalla attract and capture electricity from lightning strikes and then store that energy in the inflating sacks upon their necks. Allowing them to generate a devastating bite capable of instantly killing prey several times their own size. Thus, storms in such regions where Fjalla dwell are among the most dangerous in all of the Finerran continent. A massive stampede of violence and death, played to the tune of flashing lighting and the birdlike calls of rampaging creatures who will not rest until they have all had their fill. Yet of course, they are not monsters. Merely animals. Thus, their hunger is always sated, and the hunt always ends. With full bellies the Fjalla return to their dens to sleep their days away until instinct once again stirs them to action, where the great hunt shall begin once more.”
